Scaph Club

Plain-language references and planning tools for recreational divers

About Scaph Club

Scaph Club is a reference site for recreational scuba divers in the United States. It exists to do one narrow job well: gather the planning habits and safety references that certified divers are taught and then gradually forget, and present them in plain language with links to the primary sources — NOAA's diving program, the CDC's traveler-health guidance, Divers Alert Network, and the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society.

The site is written for certified divers and people working toward certification. It assumes you have (or will get) real training from a recognized agency; nothing here replaces that. The Pre-Dive Readiness Checklist is a self-assessment of preparation, not a fitness-to-dive screening, and none of the guide pages constitute medical advice. If you have a medical question about diving, that conversation belongs with a physician trained in dive medicine — the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society is the professional body for that field.

Every page on this site is reviewed reference material: summaries of what established organizations publish, with citations so you can verify claims yourself. Where a number matters — like how long to wait before flying after diving — we cite the source that publishes it rather than asking you to trust us.

This site is an independent reference site. It is maintained with automated tooling and periodic human review, not a full-time editorial staff. If something here looks wrong or out of date, write to hello@scaph-club.com and it will be corrected.
